Many of you know Jess Bush as our highly organized and professional project manager. What you don’t know about her is, at least once a week, she makes an Office reference that makes her laugh until she cries. Seriously, once a week… Here are some easy tips to follow for returning to the office, told through her favorite means of communication: memes from The Office.
- There were fewer rules when we were all working from our homes. While in the office be sure to do the little things like keep your shoes on, clean up after yourself, and don’t reheat fish in the microwave.
- Enjoy being back with your coworkers. From making small talk in the kitchen to happy hours, be thankful for the little things that a 100% remote environment cannot provide.
- If a call, presentation, or meeting can be an email, please do so.
- Little office expenses can add up. Take some time to do an audit of your budget.
- Don’t be afraid to ask for help. If you were hired as a remote employee, working in an office could feel like a completely new job.
- Dwight threatening everyone’s personal safety is funny. Coming to work when you are sick is not. Be courteous and aware to avoid spreading an illness.
- Even if we are back in the office, that doesn’t mean work gets to dictate your life. Take time for yourself, log out, and if it suits you, scuba dive.
Returning to the office will spark different emotions for people. We can all make the transition a little easier if we are open, honest, and patient; basically the opposite of how Michael Scott would return to work.
