This edition of the Brand Champion blog focuses on brand champions and the Team USA athletes!
Let’s look at how they are truly brand champions!
For many of today’s Olympic athletes it’s a culmination of years—or a lifetime of hard work—sacrifice and training to fulfill their dream. Many of these athletes are still amateurs. They are doing it for the love of their sport, country, family, community and those of us watching and cheering them on. The sign of a brand champion isn’t whether they win or lose but that they are out there giving it their all and trying to be the best they can be.

Some of these athletes are big names—(#simonebiles, #lebronjames, #snoopdog)— some are not—(#stephennedoroscik, #amitelor)—and some are totally new to us.
Some are expected to win and some never thought or dreamed of winning. This drive to be the best at what they do and push beyond their limits is what makes these athletes and champions special.
This is why so many of us love to watch, root for and follow the games, and yes these Brand Champions!
We also love to see and hear athlete stories that overcome and triumph against all odds.
For example, Simone Biles’ triumphant return from mental health issues she experienced during Tokyo olympics and won a bronze medal in the competition. Or like Stephen Nedoroscik, who has trained all these years to compete on one single apparatus in men’s gymnastics.
Stephen’s pommel horse expertise played an integral role in the USA Men’s Gymnastics bronze medal win, as he pushed the men’s team to win a medal through his obvious dedication.
For this, America fell in love with Stephen (the Clark Kent of Men’s Gymnastics) helping to create a brand name for the inspirational athlete.
As business leaders, we can learn from these athletes by having the same commitment to win, drive, and train, honing ourselves, our plan, our model, and our teams into a winning formula.
What is your training plan for your business and brand ro win? What is your plan for yourself, for your teams, and for your business as a whole to be the best at championing your brand and improving your bottom line?
Whether they’re expected to win or surprise us with their achievements, what sets these athletes apart is their drive to be the best and push beyond their limits.
This relentless pursuit is why we cheer for them, watch their every move, and celebrate their victories.
Lessons for Business Leaders
There’s much to learn from these extraordinary athletes. Their commitment, preparation, and ability to perform under pressure offer valuable insights for business leaders. Here are some key takeaways:
- Commitment to Excellence: Just as athletes dedicate themselves to training, businesses must commit to refining their strategies and operations to achieve success.
- Overcoming Challenges: Like Simone Biles overcoming her Tokyo challenges, leaders should be prepared to navigate obstacles and emerge stronger.
- Focused Expertise: Stephen Nedoroscik’s mastery of the pommel horse illustrates the value of honing specific skills to contribute to a greater goal.
- Inspiring Others: Athletes like LeBron James and music icon Snoop Dogg show how influence and leadership can extend beyond their primary fields to impact broader communities.
Your Path to Winning
As business leaders, it’s essential to ask ourselves:
- What is our training plan for success? How do we continuously develop and refine our strategies to stay ahead in our industry?
- How do we push ourselves and our teams to excel? Are we fostering an environment that encourages pushing boundaries and achieving excellence?
- What are our gold medal goals? Have we defined our vision of success and outlined the steps needed to reach it?
